WORKSHOP GILLES GOBERT – RE:NEW MUSIC

13 October 2010 – 14.00 – 17.00

Gilles Gobert studied composition at the Royal Conservatory of Bergen. He attended composition stages with, among others, Helmut Lachenmann, Magnus Lindberg, Jonathan Harvey and computer music at the IRCAM in Paris.
Currently, Gobert is a composition at the Royal Conservatory of Luik and composition and electronic music guest professor  at the Royal Conservatory of Bergen. He is also the conductor of the contemporary music ensamble OI/I. In his lecture, Gobert will mainly focus on the influence of the use of electronics on the instrumental-compository field, using concerte examples from his oeuvre.

 

WORKSHOP EDITH CANAT DE CHIZY - RE:NEW MUSIC

14 October – 10.00 – 13.00

After acquiring degrees in Arts, Archeology and Philosophy at the Sorbonne, Edith Canat de Chizy graduated at the ‘Conservatoire Supérieur’ in Paris, with first prizes in harmony, fuga, counterpoint, analysis, orchestration and composition.
She was taught by Maurice Ohana and others. Canat immersed herself –both at the Conservatory and with the ‘Groupe de Recherches Musicales’- into electro-acoustic music. Since September 2003, she is the head of the Parisian Conservatory in the seventh district, where she brought the composition course to life.

 

WORKSHOP JOAKIM SANDGREN – RE:NEW MUSIC

13 October – 10.00 – 13.00

Swedish composer Joakim Sandgren (°1965) studied percussion and composition and was assistent to composers such as Sven-David Sandström, Magnus Lindberg and Pär Lindgren at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm for years. He also studied at the IRCAM in Paris, where he currently lives and specializes in computer-driven composition techniques.

Sandgren will bring forward two subjects in his workshop. On the one hand, he will experiment with the unconventional play techniques that he uses in his work ‘Instrument Contondant’ with other instrumentalists. On the other hand, he will talk about his electronic composition environment to the students.
